Our company history

The PTA GmbH has experienced and helped shape the development of IT.
In 1969 the Programmier-Technische Arbeiten GmbH (PTA GmbH) was founded in Mannheim. A goal of the enterprise was the development of programs for technical computations, in particular for heat requirement calculations in the building industry.

In the following years, the focus of the development work shifted to commercial applications, especially in financial accounting and payroll accounting. Here, not only programs for IBM mainframe computer systems were developed and operated using punched cards, but also the accounting work was performed as a service for industrial companies.

The increasing dialogization of the application systems required an ever closer cooperation with the customer in order to jointly solve organizational and conceptual tasks. Therefore, the execution of customer projects was consistently placed at the center of business activities.

Due to customer requirements, the range of services could be successively expanded, so that not only intensive experience in the most important development environments could be gained, but also a variety of specialized knowledge in different industries could be built up.
Today, PTA advises customers not only through the conception and programming of individual systems. The increasing use of standardized applications in companies has led to the comprehensive technical know-how of PTA consultants also being used for the selection, introduction and expansion of the most important standard software products represented on the market.

In 2005, further steps were taken to expand the range of services and the sphere of activity of the PTA Group. In mid-2005, with the acquisition of DATIS Software GmbH (since January 1, 2011 DATIS IT-Services GmbH), the data center operation (outsourcing, hosting, cloud computing) and development of standard software for the logistics industry were taken over from a service provider with many years of experience in this field.
At the beginning of 2006, PTA’s business activities were expanded to Switzerland in order to provide local support for the locations of long-standing international customers there and to gain new markets.
