As part of the project, a large number of IT services are being outsourced from internal IT to an external service provider. PTA provides support in the areas of application consolidation, software management and client roll-out, as well as reporting and quality assurance measures.
The customer has a landscape of applications of various types for the different business processes that has grown over the years. As a basis for the rollout of the new clients and virtual desktops (the existing infrastructure is being completely renewed), workshops are held with the departments to determine and then centrally record which users require which applications on the respective clients. The preparatory tasks required for this - especially the documentation of the applications in the ServiceNow service tool - are supported significantly. In parallel, applications are consolidated to reduce functional redundancies. In addition, the definition of processes for software management is supported and the monitoring and reporting of the relevant KPIs for the rollout is established.
A particular challenge is that the required data is only incomplete and in some cases outdated. A large number of workshops must therefore be held with the respective specialist departments to determine the data required as a basis for further activities. These must then be recorded centrally, whereby in some cases binding rules for documentation must first be developed and established in IT. This then creates a valid database for the client rollout and the installation of the respective applications on the clients.
