On behalf of a customer it is necessary to update the current SAP system environment ERP 6.0 to SAP ERP 6.07. In addition to the upgrade, the existing hardware, database installation and the SAP Business Connector are to be updated.
The customer operates a 2-system landscape and uses the SAP HR module for HR master data and payroll accounting. During the project, the existing system landscape must also be updated on the hardware side. During the course of the project, a parallel system landscape is created using heterogeneous system copies and then updated. The Unicode migration, which was previously prepared in a separate project by PTA GmbH, also takes place here. In addition, SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is installed and configured for the procurement of the software components. The SAP standard tools Software Update Manager (SUM) and Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM) are used for the various activities. In addition to the technical tasks, errors from test management are eliminated.
Due to an investment backlog, the hardware and the SAP ERP software were no longer up to date. In order to maintain operational reliability, a corresponding update was necessary. The system produces several thousand pay slips every month and is therefore to be classified as a critical system whose failure poses a threat to the company.
