In the central master data application, a management of metering devices for energy is created for the metering point operator. The life cycle of the technical devices is fully represented and the users can edit the data of the meters by means of wizards.


The central master data application is a tool programmed with Visual Studio and C#-.NET code, whose data basis lies in an SQL database. The customer as metering point operator maps the facility and contract structure for metering point operation in the energy market. Metering devices are created by means of file import and, if necessary, subsequently adapted by the user. Market communication with the network operator, supplier, transmission system operator and, if necessary, other metering point operators is carried out with these metering devices via their supported OBIS key figures. Not only purchased devices are mapped in the system, but also those used by other metering point operators at installations that are also relevant for the customer.

Technical description:

Implementation requirements for the project are discussed with and considered by the functional departments. These include: Development and establishment of a new process for MSB devices in accordance with the requirements of the customer's business processes in the role of metering point operator, expansion of the device structure to include the new water division, introduction of ownership group to separate own devices from customer devices, mapping of the condition and life cycle of a device with regard to its use (installation, removal, testing, assembly), compilation of calibration groups and management of the calibration group to map lot sizes for handling recalibration, mapping of the electronic delivery bill for ordering and delivery of metering devices and components for metering systems (import and export in accordance with the VDE standard) and the provision of evaluations. The implementations in the master data application and in the customer's own Biztalk server are coordinated.
