Importing network access fees from an external database

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Our IT reference projects serve as a basis for orientation. They support the reusability of tried and tested concepts as part of project implementation.

Project duration: 8 months

Brief description

In order to improve the quality of master data and to use price information for calculations in energy trading, an external data source is linked in for regular imports.

Supplement

In order to import price information, a differentiated routine ("Enet_Import") is created on an MS SQL server 2003. On the basis of a requirements catalog, a combined functional and data processing design is created and implemented. The relevant tests and quality assurance of the "Enet_Import" module are carried out. The functional logic is stored in Transact SQL procedures in an MS SQL server 2003 database. The business logic of the user interface is mapped using Visual Basic for Applications in MS Access 2002.

Subject description

Before the "network access fees" Ene t database was integrated, "price sheets" were used to save the network access price information, by means of manual data maintenance. In order to improve the quality of the master data (network operators, network area divisions, address data etc.) and to make it possible to use up-to-date, differentiated price information on the system side without creating price sheets, an import routine is created. After data is created automatically for referencing between the customer's data and data imported from the external system, access to and use of the network access fee information is guaranteed.
