SAP BW / BI

SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW) is the Enterprise Data Warehouse solution of SAP. In a central application, all reporting-relevant data of a company from different SAP and non-SAP source systems can be extracted, harmonised and consolidated. They are then available to a wide range of BI front-end tools for evaluation or further processing.

The use of comprehensive, powerful out-of-the-box tools and objects for all classic tasks of a data warehouse such as

• Modelling
• Scheduling and monitoring
• OLAP (Online Analytical Processing)
• Planning
• Lifecycle management (data and objects)

makes it possible to design and implement even complex and individual requirements in a short time.

Especially with and for the SAP HANA technology, the functional scope of the SAP Business Intelligence modules has been significantly extended in the newer releases, while at the same time simplifying modelling and making use of considerable performance improvements.

For example, SAP BW operated on SAP HANA basis also includes the option of integrating big data and social media sources (e.g. Twitter) in near real-time. Hybrid solutions – integrated use of classic BW components and native HANA techniques – are gaining in importance in the modelling of data warehouse solutions in this environment.
