Algorithms for error analysis in chromatography and mass spectrometry devices

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Our IT reference projects serve as a basis for orientation. They support the reusability of tried and tested concepts as part of project implementation.

Brief description

The customer´s analytical instruments, which are based on chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods (GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC-MS), collect a large amount of data during operation. When errors occur, service personnel can upload this data to a portal. There, comprehensive analyses are performed, enabling rapid error detection and targeted troubleshooting. PTA´s task is to develop the corresponding analysis algorithms.

Supplement

Measurement and operational data from LC/MS-, GC/MS-, and HPLC/MS-based analytical instruments are uploaded to a portal. There, data analysis algorithms are used to identify instrument errors. The analysis results are presented in a user-friendly format. The portal also offers extensive options for data visualization and further analysis. PTA develops the analysis algorithms and defines the requirements for data presentation in the portal. In addition, PTA performs reverse engineering of undocumented OEM data formats.

Subject description

Complex medical analytical instruments utilize measurement units based on gas or liquid chromatography combined with mass spectrometry. These require continuous maintenance, and identifying faults and their causes is challenging due to their high complexity. The devices continuously collect data that allows for detailed insights into the operational status of the components and the progress of the analyses. Over extended periods and by taking the analysis parameters into account, this data can be used for targeted fault detection and troubleshooting. The analysis takes place in a portal where service personnel upload device data. Algorithms scan the data for errors and return summarized results. The algorithms are continuously refined.
