Analysis of AI chatbots for their use in the creation of QA relevant documentation

Brief description
The three AI chatbots-Copilot, Claude, and a PTA chatbot-are being tested for their use in creating quality assurance (QA)-related documents. Four use cases are being examined: 1) the creation of a test plan based on a rough description of the software, 2) the generation of test cases from the previously created test plan, 3) the generation of test cases from screenshots of two web applications, and 4) a gap analysis of test case coverage.

As part of a systematic evaluation, various AI chatbots are being examined for their suitability in creating test designs and test cases, as well as for analyzing gaps in test case coverage. The goal is to obtain an overview of the AI chatbots currently available at PTA and their suitability for use in quality assurance.
Subject description
For the AI chatbots currently available in PTA, we are evaluating to what extent they are suitable for assisting in the creation of test plans and test cases, and whether they can be effectively used in the gap analysis of requirements and test case coverage. To create the test plans, the AI chatbots are provided with a general description of a software application. Based on the resulting test plan, test cases are generated for predefined requirements in the next step. Test cases are also generated from screenshots of the TIM time-tracking software and from Postman, a web application for testing APIs. Finally, gap analyses are conducted on the generated test cases and the requirements that were either provided or derived from the screenshots. Additionally, user-friendliness (uploading and downloading files, formatting results, etc.) as well as the AI chatbots´ ability to ask necessary follow-up questions are taken into account.
