Central data management for site/power-plant location data

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Our IT reference projects serve as a basis for orientation. They support the reusability of tried and tested concepts as part of project implementation.

Project duration: 4 months

Brief description

Cloud-based custom software for the centralized collection and management of master data and attributes for an energy provider´s sites and power plant locations. It creates a shared, quality-assured data foundation for downstream applications, prevents data silos, and reduces manual maintenance efforts. The application is being developed from scratch and includes centralized maintenance of site characteristics, powerful search and filter functions with savable filter sets, an Excel import feature for bulk data maintenance, and access control via a central access management service.

Supplement

The application is part of a microservices architecture in Microsoft Azure (Azure App Service, Azure Key Vault, MS SQL); CI/CD is handled via Azure DevOps. The backend is based on .NET 8 (C#) with CQRS handlers, while the frontend is built using Preact and TypeScript. Master data (e.g., location references) is retrieved via central services, and access control is managed through a central access management service. Development includes the data model for location attributes and area-based restrictions, the filter and saved filter logic, the Excel import (including validation), and contact and contact group management. Additionally, the application is being stabilized for handover to the customer´s operations.

Subject description

Site master data includes all descriptive characteristics of a power plant or facility site, such as grid connection, zoning, land-use restrictions, production capacities, and contacts. Consistent, centralized management of this data is essential for reliable analyses, planning, and reporting in power plant operations. By consolidating site characteristics, contacts, and restrictions in a single location-including search, filter, and import functions-ata silos are avoided, and the data quality and reusability of site data across application boundaries are enhanced.
