Configurator for hall heating systems as support for the offering process

Brief description

The current quotation process is highly individual and not very IT supported. The process takes time, is prone to errors, and is highly dependent on the individual knowledge of the processor. An initial checklist for recording the rough requirements of a hall heating system is to be replaced by a comprehensive configurator, which is also used by the company's own sales department. The PTA determines the concrete requirements and advises on the way to a make or buy decision. Suitable providers of configuration software are evaluated and tested for suitability in further steps together with the customer.

Supplement

The processes and workflows of interest are modeled in BPMN. The functional requirements are assigned to the process steps according to a PTA standard procedure. Workshops and already existing Excel-based configuration modules as well as a data flow analysis for the integration of the solution into the existing application landscape serve as the information basis. Functional and non-functional requirements flow together into a requirements specification. The requirements specification is refined iteratively and in dialog with users and potential suppliers. In this way, costs can be controlled and the joint learning process is optimally supported.

Subject description

Hall heating systems are used in very different variants. Examples of application scenarios are production halls, tents, military halls, milking parlors, greenhouses, sports halls and many more. Due to the high number of variants, a structured survey of environmental conditions and heating system requirements is an essential factor when preparing a quotation. A flexible configuration, which includes the heat requirement calculation and an optimization of the illumination of the area with heat, has to be ensured by a new configurator, which is integrated into the existing system landscape.
