Data Preparation in Merchandise Management for the Annual Financial Statements

Brief description
PTA supported a customer in the travel retail sector with the preparation and plausibility checking of merchandise and posting data in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with the retail extension LS Central (by LS Retail). The focus was on merchandise management, providing a consistent and dependable data basis for the annual financial statements.

The customer uses Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in combination with the retail extension LS Central (by LS Retail), which maps the merchandise management processes. PTA reconciled the merchandise and posting data and checked it for plausibility. Recurring error patterns were systematically analysed; from this, PTA derived concrete proposals for targeted data cleansing. To safeguard the closing process, PTA provided the required analyses, which served the customer as a reliable basis for decision-making.
Subject description
Clean merchandise management is a key prerequisite for reliable annual financial statements in travel retail, as merchandise and inventory data feed directly into valuation. Through the plausibility checking of the LS Central data and the cleansing of error patterns, PTA made a significant contribution to the quality of the merchandise management data in the ERP system. The analyses provided by PTA relieved the customer's finance and accounting function and accelerated the preparation of the financial statements.
