Enhancement of an application for valuating fixed assets

Brief description
Enhancement of an intranet application that provides support in the commercial valuation of special fixed assets (see also project ID 2891). The application provides numerous convenient evaluation options and increases the efficiency of balancing. The enhancements made here involve expanding the security concept and the logging components, as well as creating new data interfaces and data displays.
Supplement
The project is managed via the Visual Studio 2010 Team Foundation Server. Up-to-date Microsoft .NET technologies (.NET 4.0 Entity Framework) are used. The implemented application consists of three parts: front end, back end and reports. The reports are implemented on the basis of the MS SQL Server Reporting Services. Consistent use of the ASP.NET AJAX controls from Infragistics (WebDataGrid, WebDatePicker, WebDropDown) ensure that the front end (ASP.NET) is user-friendly. The underlying MS SQL database is accessed in the back end exclusively via the .NET 4.0 Entity Framework. All the data output at the front end and in the reports is provided by the back end via web services (WCF).
Subject description
The fixed assets in question and wear and tear of those assets are obtained from a third-party system via a file-based interface. Only the acquisition costs are entered in the application itself. However, they can also be imported from Excel files.
