Enhancement of an EEG settlement system based on amendment 2017

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Our IT reference projects serve as a basis for orientation. They support the reusability of tried and tested concepts as part of project implementation.

Project duration: 6 years, 7 months

Brief description

In connection with 2014 amendment to the EEG, the transmission provider must take into account significant changes according to 'Special Equalisation Scheme' and 'Self-Suppliers ' in EEG settlement. Further adaptions of the settlement are necessary due to changes of the Network Charge Modernisation Act (NeMoG) and the legislation for the promotion of locally generated electricity in close proximity of the tenement ('Mieterstrom'). The project involves the conceptual design and implementation of the necessary changes to the software system primarily used for this purpose.

Supplement

The transmission provider processes the EEG using a Java-based distributed application with the Apache Geronimo 3.0 application server and Oracle as the database.

Subject description

According to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), a transmission provider has the following responsibilities: (a) Discharge and reimbursement of the energy received by the distribution system operators within the transmission provider's control area, as defined by EEG, and the accruing market premiums in the case of direct marketing. (b) Recording the energy received (quantity and chronological sequence) and the reimbursement payments made. (c) Horizontal adjustment: Adjusting the received energy and the reimbursements provided among the 4 transmission providers in Germany. (d) Marketing the energy remaining with the transmission provider after horizontal adjustment. (e) Proportionate distribution of the incurred costs to all electricity supply companies supplying end consumers within its control area.
