Ensuring proper operation in process automation and batch control
Brief description
The backend development department requires external support to ensure ongoing batch operations. The demand originates in a reduction in personnel. Two process automation and batch control specialists from PTA were commissioned. The PTA experts take over part of the early shift, which processes ongoing error messages, so that the customer's employees have more time to implement the requirements of the specialist department, to further develop process automation and to maintain the system landscape and services.

The operation, monitoring, maintenance and development of process automation and batch control is carried out using Redwood's RunMyJobs scheduler. In the early shift, the PTA employees take on the task of checking and rectifying logged errors and completing daily recurring tasks that are reported via various channels. Part of the monitoring takes place in the RunMyJobs job monitor and in the Grafana dashboard of the scheduler, while other messages are processed via specific mailboxes. Adjustments are requested by the department as tasks via Service Now. In addition, the PTA employees update the outdated documentation on the various process automation and batch operation tasks in the customer's wiki.
Subject description
In the customer's batch operation, Redwood's RunMyJobs scheduler is used to automate around 6 million jobs per month with over 6000 job definitions in third-party systems such as SAP. The customer also provides a platform for secure file exchange between the customer (or affiliated companies) and third parties via SFTP servers. This area of responsibility is of critical importance for the customer and the affiliated companies, as it is also used to automate central payment transactions with the banks, among other things.
