The topic of phishing is very important to the customer in connection with its IT security concepts. The project is specifically aimed at the management of mail notifications that have already passed through automated precautions. IT users are offered an MS Outlook add-in for the simple and secure identification of potentially dangerous emails and their dispatch to a central mailbox. However, the detailed checks require considerable manual effort, which leads to avoidable expense, particularly in the case of mails declared as false positives. The system offers options for easily and efficiently managing rules for defining 'false positive' phishing emails (white listing). This can significantly reduce the number of mails with false positive declarations in official mailing campaigns, for example, and reduce the associated checking effort.
Supplement
The overall system consists of an MS Outlook add-in based on .NET VSTO, a .NET8 intranet application for defining whitelists, a dedicated SQL server database for storing the whitelist definitions and a .NET8 web API for the automated validation of flagged mail notifications. If mails are assessed as false positives by the whitelist check, the triggering IT user receives corresponding feedback.
Subject description
The system provided relieves the specialists entrusted with the inspection of a large number of false positives and thus offers opportunities to increase efficiency / reduce costs in this area while at the same time increasing quality and safety.
