Introduction of a Meter Data Management (MDM) system from Görlitz (EDW3000) for mapping the business processes necessary for metering point operation by an energy trader’s specialist department.
Supplement
EDW3000 is a standard software for integrated meter measurement data entry and evaluation with higher process automation. The underlying business processes (remote meter reading, plausibility check, automated transfer to commercially standard data exchange formats) are mapped and device management is enabled. EDW3000 has a modular structure. The core EDW.engine module is used for database management of master and transaction data. Other modules used include EDW.message (standardized energy data exchange (e.g. EDIFACT)), EDW.device ((meter) device management) and EDW.collector (time-controlled automatic remote meter reading). Customer-specific license files activate the purchased modules. EDW3000 is based on an MS .NET server platform with an Oracle or MS SQL server database (in this project: MS SQL server DB). The MDM system is integrated into the customer’s system landscape by implementing various interfaces and enhancing the application that manages master data.
Subject description
The German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) plans to open up metering. It is currently working on specifications for creating reliable framework conditions that are suitable for bulk business for handling the parties involved in metering. The standardization of business processes and contracts should enable more rapid and efficient cooperation, particularly between network operators, metering service providers and metering point operators, when operating metering points and collecting, processing and distributing the relevant metering information. The decision is to be announced from April 1, 2011 and has to be implemented by the relevant market participants by October 1, 2011. The customer plans initially to take over metering point operation for the consumers it already supplies with power (electricity/Germany). The customer himself is officially assuming both roles, MPO and MSP, in the market and the associated market communications.
