Migration MS Access to SQL Server

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Our IT reference projects serve as a basis for orientation. They support the reusability of tried and tested concepts as part of project implementation.

Project duration: 2 months

Brief description

There are various specialist MS Access applications of varying complexity, which are primarily used for service reporting. These were developed by the department itself. The data is stored in MS Access databases. To improve stability and data security, the data storage is extracted from the individual MS Access applications and migrated into a separate SQL Server database.

Supplement

Within the scope of the project, the existing MS Access data structure is to be checked for compatibility with the SQL server. Furthermore, appropriate SQL scripts for table creation have to be created, the data has to be transferred from MS Access to the SQL Server databases and the functionality has to be tested against the MS Access front-ends. The migration is carried out with the support of the SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) from Microsoft.

Subject description

The applications manage various data in the area of IT services and serve as a database for reporting, e.g. regarding SLA compliance.
