Migration of the IS-U Billing System to S4U
Brief description
The benefit of the project is that end-to-end automation of data transmission and processing in the billing process leads to a significant increase in efficiency. Manual effort is largely eliminated, process reliability and data quality improve, and ongoing operating costs are significantly reduced. PTA´s role is to facilitate and coordinate between the two participating sister companies. PTA consolidates the functional and technical requirements of both units, drives forward the relevant topics from the overarching main project, and ensures coordinated collaboration. The goal is, on the one hand, to establish an interface-based system through which the new S4U solution receives all relevant data fully automatically via clean, standardized APIs at the appropriate time, and, on the other hand, to ensure that the existing functions from SAP IS-U are also available in the new SAP S4U (Utility Cloud) system.
Supplement
The project involves migrating the existing SAP IS-U system to the SAP S/4HANA Utilities Cloud (S4U). The migration will be carried out using a brownfield approach, in which the existing system infrastructure is retained and migrated to the new target architecture. A unique aspect of this project is the distribution of responsibilities across two sister companies: While the billing system is operated by one company, all billing-related information originates from the other company.
Subject description
Billing for commercial energy supplies depends on the customer´s metering type. SLP customers are billed based on forecasts and meter readings, while RLM customers are billed using actual load profile data. Billing-relevant data is exchanged through regulated market communication processes. Bills consist of energy prices, grid fees, levies, surcharges, and taxes. The process covers annual, interim, and final billing, advance payments, and over/under-consumption settlements. Contract changes and manual corrections must be processed reliably and reflected correctly in billing.
