Modernisation of a tariff product data management in the life insurance sector

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Our IT reference projects serve as a basis for orientation. They support the reusability of tried and tested concepts as part of project implementation.

Brief description

Development of a new web-based application for managing tariff product data in the life insurance sector. The application is part of a suite of three products developed jointly by the team, and replaces an existing legacy system with historically grown functional scope. Agile methodologies and continuous integration on a cloud environment ensure the fast delivery of functional, requirements-compliant software.

Supplement

The software architecture is service-oriented and follows the CQRS and Event Sourcing patterns: write operations are event-based, while read access uses an aggregated model. The application is deployed on a company-internal Kubernetes platform in the cloud. Angular and TypeScript are used as frontend technologies. The backend is built on Java and Spring Boot. AWS Aurora PostgreSQL is used as the database. S3 object storage is used for file exports (e.g. Excel downloads). Authentication is handled via OAuth2/OIDC through a centralised identity management system.

Subject description

The system manages tariff product data that forms the basis for all actuarial calculations in the life insurance sector. It enables business department staff (including actuaries and product managers) to create, maintain, and version tariff data without requiring detailed technical knowledge of the underlying data model. The dedicated delivery service distributes the maintained data in a prepared format to a central calculation engine.
