Brief description

The implemented portlet supports technical support in manual restart of a linked system. A system can be started at the push of a button on an interface which is integrated in a portal. The user can see outputs regarding the progress of the restart on the screen.

A portlet for restarting a system is implemented and integrated into a portal. To allow on-call employees to restart a system faster, the portlet offers this function at the push of a button in a screen. The portlet's interface is visualized with Javascript support (EXTJS). The implemented technical workflows (inubit BPM Suite) respond to user interactions with the screen, call up the necessary scripts for the system restart and pass on their outputs to the interface.

Subject description

The IT landscape of a company comprises different software and hardware components. Failures in the hardware and errors in the software cannot be completely avoided during everyday operations. Failure of parts of the systems is to be rectified as quickly as possible for company-critical sequences. Frequently, this requires a system restart. Support by a simple user interface reduces possible error sources and means that even people without in-depth knowledge of the system are able to restart a system.
