P2P Marketplace Platform for Premium Vehicle Rental

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Brief description

A peer-to-peer sports car rental platform was designed for a client and implemented as a multi-platform ecosystem. The solution comprises five integrated applications: a mobile app (iOS/Android), a web dashboard, an admin panel, a marketing website, and a central backend API. It was implemented using React, React Native, and Node.js on a MongoDB database and deployed in a cloud environment. Development follows the principle of specification-driven agentic coding: requirements are documented in structured specifications and iteratively translated into production-ready code in close collaboration with AI agents. This enables rapid development while maintaining consistent code quality across all five applications.

Supplement

The platform was developed as a two-sided marketplace that connects vehicle owners and renters. A central backend API serves five frontend applications via JWT-secured REST interfaces, supplemented by a WebSocket layer (Socket.IO) for real-time chat and live notifications. MongoDB with geospatial indexes enables high-performance, location-based vehicle searches. Payment processing uses Stripe Connect as a marketplace solution with automatic splitting between platform fees and payouts. Onfido was integrated for identity verification, supplemented by AWS S3 for file storage and Firebase for push notifications. The mobile app was developed using React Native as a cross-platform solution. Multilingual support (DE, EN, FR, IT) was implemented consistently using i18next. Deployment is automated via CI/CD pipelines with AWS Amplify and AWS Elastic Beanstalk; the mobile app is distributed through the app stores.

Subject description

The platform covers the entire sports car rental process: from location-based vehicle search and booking requests with availability checks to payment processing and mutual reviews. Vehicle owners list their vehicles with photos, descriptions, and availability calendars and receive booking requests to approve. Before making their first booking, renters undergo identity verification, including checks of their driver´s license and ID. Communication takes place via an integrated real-time chat. An automated booking lifecycle manages the process, with payments reserved upon confirmation and disbursed to the owner only after the transaction is completed. An admin panel enables platform management with user, booking, and financial overviews.
