Re-engineering and further development of an international data warehouse environment

Brief description
Expanding and adjusting an existing data warehouse (DWH) and the reporting based on it. Sales figures, sales activities and information about servicing and maintenance are consolidated together with sales and turnover information from various source systems in a group-wide DWH. This data is then prepared for evaluations and research by means of OLAP (online analytical processing).
Supplement
An existing web-based information system is expanded and improved technically. The processes for loading sales information (SAP) and distribution information (CRM) are linked in and further processed with the help of the SQL Server 2005 Integration Services. Other external sources with market and structural data complete the data pool. The data is consolidated and prepared in a two-stage staging area. The consistent data pool that is then created is used both as a data source for the central DWH and for various company-wide applications. On the basis of the DWH data, the SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services are used to prepare the data for various reporting functions using OLAP. The information system implemented in ASP.Net enables structured and role-specific access to the defined DWH reports. ProClarity is used as a flexible report generator.
Subject description
The data can either be evaluated and analyzed by means of an information system with reports or by means of a flexible report generator. The application provides reports about sales/turnover figures, classified according to product and regional structures, as well as evaluations of expected turnover, customer structure, market information and sales planning. The question of time is given special consideration; specifically, annual and quarterly comparisons are made. Evaluations of distribution activities, servicing and maintenance information are also possible. Additionally, users can create further reports and make these accessible to other people. The DWH is validated in accordance with FDA guidelines.
