Redesign of an integrated planning and reporting application

Project duration: 2 years, 1 month

Brief description

Redesign of an integrated planning and reporting application for creating a complete balance sheet on the basis of the 'IBM Cognos TM1' standard software. It covers planning of the reinsurance business as well as the areas of asset management, funding/capital/liquidity and expenses. Automated interfaces ensure integration of the TM1-based application into the system landscape.

Supplement

'TM1 Web' provides the user with web interfaces for inputting planning figures for several planning years and for reporting. The necessary implementations are made with 'TM1 Perspective'. The interfaces to TM1 are represented by DB2 tables (z/OS) on which the ETL tools of PowerCenter and Apparo operate. Furthermore, the development of Cobol programs is required for valuing according to the US-GAAP standard and for producing proprietary key figures. Supported by Jira for project tracking, Scrum is used as an agile procedure.

Subject description

The new planning software expands the existing applications for planning the reinsurance business (project IDs 3527, 2953, 2844, 2657) and for group planning (project IDs 3542, 3522, 3521, 3520) by adding multi-year planning. In addition, further areas of the company are covered. Moreover, the project aims to achieve greater standardization and harmonization of the planning and budgeting processes. The new system replaces other systems as well as many Excel sheets used for data input. This results in a more consistent data basis overall, leading to improved and traceable forecasting. That permits, for example, not only displaying different scenarios but also indicating dependencies.
