Software selection for a sales and distribution system

Brief description
In a control and regulation technology company (valves), the individual sales system (operated on a host using VSE, CICS, Cobol and VSAM) is to be replaced with standard software. In addition to SAP R/2 RV, SAP R/3 SD is also included as a smaller software system. Due to the existing R/2 environment in accounting, materials management and production, RV was suggested as the sales and distribution system.

In addition to the host programs, the old system also had decentralized components operated on Nixdorf 8870 computers in the branches. These individual solutions are to be replaced with a central sales and distribution system.
Subject description
When the standard software is introduced, the sales processes are also to be re-engineered. Furthermore, the material numbers were previously converted to anonymous numbers and this conversion is to be supported.
