Structuring and configuration of an SAP test portal

For a variety of reasons, it is necessary to operate an independent SAP test portal in addition to the SAP production portal. The main reasons are recurring failures of the SAP production portal. These failures are due to customizing activities, importing support packages, weak points in travel management or due to restarting the J2EE Engine, for example. Added to this, it is important to ensure high system availability for the production portal and to avoid disturbances to end users due to support work. Furthermore, user acceptance needs to be improved. The test portal is set up as a complete copy of the production portal. Later operation of the test portal requires suitable backup strategies to be conceived so that defined system states can be restored during testing.
