Test management for an upgrade and migration of a telephony system

Project duration: 2 months

Brief description

The version of the Avaya Aura telephony system currently used by the customer is to be upgraded to a current version (version 8.1) by a service provider. Furthermore, the customer wants to migrate the telephony system (for the most part) to a virtualized platform. It must be ensured that after the upgrade the same functional range is available and that the migrated data and call flows are transferred correctly and work as before. The PTA develops the test strategy within the scope of this project and takes over the operative test management.

Supplement

PTA develops the test strategy for the customer's test activities and documents it in a test concept. Detailed acceptance tests are carried out by the users on a test system to check the functional scope, the migrated data, and the functional integration with third-party systems on the updated telephony system. On go-live day, a subset of the acceptance tests are performed by the users on the productive telephony system in a business acceptance test to confirm the functionality on the productive telephony system. The PTA accompanies and supports the customer during the test case creation and test execution and takes over the operative test management within the scope of the customer's test activities. This also includes monitoring and controlling the test activities as well as error management and the associated communication with the service provider.

Subject description

The telephony system under consideration is used to map internal and external telecommunications and the associated processes or call flows. Call flows are used to specify the processing of calls from a technical point of view. This includes, among other things, the time-dependent forwarding to correct and free agents or waiting fields, the control of announcements and the embedding of DTMF (dual-tone multi-frequency).
