The goals of the project are the early validation of the user interface with domain experts in order to assess the degree to which it supports the laboratory workflows, to identify safety and usability shortcomings, and to meet certification and documentation requirements. PTA is comprehensibly responsible for the planning of the evaluation procedure, the preparation of the study material, as well as the data analysis and the deduction of design recommendations. Furthermore, PTA documents and presents the study results to the project management as basis for decision making.
Supplement
The usability evaluation takes place at several international sites with domain experts as study participants. It is a qualitative field study. The basis of the evaluation is an interactive AXURE software prototype. The data is analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively to meet the customers‘user centred design requirements and under consideration of EN ISO 62366, 9241 and 14971. From the results change requests are formulated to incorporate them into the development process.
Subject description
A comprehensive user centred design process requires the regularly conduction of usability evaluation alongside the product development process. The inclusion of potential users and consideration of the context of use ensures that the software supports the conduction of the required steps for fulfilling the tasks and therewith the user in his work. Therewith, the accessibility of frequently used functions can be optimized, training needs can be minimized, and complaints as well as cost-intensive amendments can be reduced.
