Expansion of the central administration application for IT user authorizations
Project duration: 2 months
Brief description
The existing intranet application for company-wide maintenance and monitoring of IT system access is being expanded to include a technical function for blocking the activation of user accounts. This situation can arise when system access is to be temporarily suspended for a specific reason. The expansion ensures administratively that reactivation by IT user support is not possible until the situation has been clarified. PTA GmbH supports the department with conceptual proposals for implementing this requirement – this applies in particular to the look and feel of the extensions. In addition, the necessary technical adjustments are made.
Supplement
The extension involves adjustments to the structures of the underlying SQL Server 2022 database and the access mechanisms affected by this via Entity Framework Core. When designing additional front-end and business logic, close consultation with the user groups affected ensures that the additional functionalities are intuitive and largely self-explanatory, with the aim of enabling efficient work with the system.
Subject description
Reactivation of blocked user accounts (caused by manual deactivation, blocking due to absence, ANÜ blocking periods, or expiration of access authorizations) can usually be lifted via central IT user support. To signal a special situation, this option may be administratively restricted in the future. Direct advantages for the technical process on the customer side include additional security against unwanted reactivations. The previous procedure of complete blocking required increased effort and costs to restore all system accesses after the special occasion had been resolved.
