Increase RSA encryption to 2048bit key

This IT project is part of our digitalization and optimization of our customers’ IT landscape. Through targeted measures, we promote technological progress, optimize cross-system processes and create a sustainable basis for future developments. Brief description

The single sign-on connection (SSO) between the external client and the application is based on a self-developed protocol in which the payload is RSA-encrypted. This is because the payload is many times larger than the RSA key using a memory stream. The RSA key is 1024 bits large. To match the security requirements of the customer, keys with a strength of 2048 should be used.

Supplement

PTA should increase the strength of the encryption to 2048 bits on behalf of the customer. This should be done without major changes to the connected portals.

Subject description

The customer's security requirements were mapped in workshops in order to detect any uncertainty in the encryption strength. These were postponed for processing within the framework of a risk acceptance, as the risks were low, in order to realize the topic in coordination with the connected partners.
