Migration of IBM Rational ClearQuest and ReqPro to HP Quality Center

Brief description
The objective of the project is the technical migration of around 30 ClearQuest and 40 ReqPro databases to HP ALM (Quality Center), as the customer changed from the Rational Suite to the Lifecycle Management solution from HP. A small application is written specifically for these migrations that enables automation while retaining enough flexibility to reflect the variety of the many different project groups.

The migration software is developed using the extreme programming process, as the required software properties are very unclear and the technical options are not known. After automation of the technical side of the migrations, the databases are migrated on a project-by-project basis (2-3 in parallel), where project-specific adjustments are always implemented. One particular challenge is automatic processing of around 50000 Word pages with test cases and specifications.
Subject description
The migration software is developed in C#, where it provides access to all involved applications (Rational ClearQuest, Rational ReqPro, HP Quality Center, HP ALM) via API. The tool also enables import of data from Excel and, especially, from Word, where many of the imported test cases and specifications are entered.
