PTA and BKK Pfalz win Best Practice Award 2022 at the CIO Digital Transformation Summit

Successful lighthouse project awarded

This year’s CIO Digital Transformation Summit took place on May 4 and 5, 2022 under the motto “Meet the Digital Leaders”. This year, a newly designed two-day virtual event brought together the shapers and doers of digital transformation, including PTA IT Consulting and BKK Pfalz. As always, the focus was on relevant strategic topics, flanked by a large number of best-practice examples, from which three projects were honored with an award by an independent jury. The lighthouse project of BKK Pfalz and PTA came in second. BKK Pfalz is the first statutory health insurer to successfully use a digital and interactive video consulting assistant for complex care advice. This was worth a Best Practice Award to the jurors.

Serving as a role model throughout the industry
For the jury, it was clear that the project presented would serve as a role model for other statutory health insurers and awarded the two companies a place on the winners’ podium. “Our joint progressive approach, which was also the starting point for an extraordinary partnership, has now been recognized with a prestigious award. We are proud of this and at the same time feel vindicated,” said Dr. Tim Walleyo, Managing Director of PTA IT-Beratung. “Because we have proven that consistent digitization can be successful even in a statutory health insurance company, where numerous regulations, complex consulting topics and the highest security standards in terms of data protection are part of everyday business.”

Anna explains – personally, tailored to your needs, even for complex questions
Against this backdrop, the two award winners confidently presented themselves as digital doers. Andreas Lenz, CEO of BKK, has always been convinced that the acceptance of insured persons on the subject of digitization is high: “Between 60 and 70 percent of our members signal to us that they are open to proactive, digital offers. This shows us that we are required to put ourselves in the position of these interested parties and provide them with precisely these offers on basic content and preventive healthcare.” And that’s exactly what BKK Pfalz is doing now. For some time now, it has been using NEXOVI, PTA’s digital consulting assistant. It supports the health insurance company and its policyholders by providing comprehensible and expert advice on all aspects of applying for care services. For the personal approach via the consulting assistant, BKK Pfalz uses a professional actress named Anna as a spokesperson. Anna guides all interested parties through the consultation and application process in a clear and dialog-oriented manner.

Video avatars take customer experience to new level
With the use of NEXOVI, fixed service times and office hours no longer exist at BKK Pfalz – “Instead, we are moving many questions, services and offers directly to the living room couch of our customers,” says Andreas Lenz. So they receive a first-class digital consulting service – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the area of care consulting, both the customers of BKK Pfalz and the health insurance company itself benefit. Thanks to the fully digitized end-to-end process, the susceptibility to errors approaches zero. This frees up resources, eases the burden on customer service, and saves BKK Pfalz a lot of time and thus money.

CIO Summit delivers best practices
The digitization of companies and markets continues to be an enormous challenge for business and IT decision-makers. More than ever, agility and speed in business processes are the most important prerequisites for responding to changes, crises and customer expectations. In this context, more than 120 digital experts met at this year’s CIO Digital Transformation Summit at C-level to discuss together how the transformation can succeed in the first place and how digital managers can get on the road to success right from the start in order to move quickly from the theory of a digitalization roadmap to the implementation of the concrete transformation. The event provided valuable tips on what company managers need to do in order to also develop scalable and sustainable business models from successful lighthouse projects, what they can learn from successful digitization projects, and how strategic mistakes can be avoided.
