Centralization of international order shipment

Project duration: 1 year, 1 month

Brief description

In an internationally active commercial enterprise, orders were previously dispatched decentrally in the individual countries: in future, this is to be processed via a central converter platform. At the same time, the current convertor version of M@gic Eddy AI from Crossgate is migrated.

Supplement

The orders are generated in enterprise resource planning systems in many countries; these are mostly still sent to suppliers by fax. The introduction of decentralized converters, which would also make it possible to transfer orders using other methods, such as Edifact and X.400, is not economically viable, given that the order volumes are small in some cases. As such, the aim is to send orders via a central converter.

Subject description

The purchase orders, which are generated in enterprise resource planning systems in various countries, are to be transferred to a central converter, from where they are forwarded to suppliers in any format or ordering method. The order excess via X.400 is to be extended at the same time. The most important aim of the new converter version is to design the use of ordering methods, formats, languages and character sets more flexibly and to control the content of the source documents according to the country, language, order type and other parameters. It is not possible to generate source documents in multiple languages and character sets in the standard system with the converter that is currently used. However, this is urgently necessary because some of the suppliers are country-specific. In order to cover the additional requirements of international, centralized processing of order shipment, comprehensive, customer-specific enhancements are developed for the converter on the basis of Perl and PHP 5.
