Cognos BI reporting

Brief description
New reports are provided in the Cognos BI8 system for the various specialist departments. The environment is migrated from Cignos 8.4 to Cognos 10.2. Reports from the Cognos 7.4 environment that are still needed are analyzed in terms of the current requirements and created in Cognos 10. Additionally, new reports are created directly in Cognos 10. The focus here is on the retail sector, with evaluations of key figures (e.g. sales, revenue, stock levels) in various dimensions and hierarchical levels.
Supplement
Data modeling and provision in the Cognos BI8 system is completely restructured. First, the data structure is checked (especially the relationships between master data and transaction data) and it is modeled accordingly in the Cognos Framework Manager tool. The Cognos PowerCubes for multidimensional examination of the data are created in the ETL Cognos Transformer tool. Part of the compression takes place at the Oracle database level. One feature of Cognos that is important to this company is the option of tailoring the content of a report to specific people or groups and to automatically distribute this "partial report" by e-mail.
Subject description
Reporting plays an important role in this company. For example, Cognos reports are used to control stocks of inventory and generate form letters. The current PowerPlay cubes are used to calculate overall turnover and sales, to identify balance sheet figures and to examine them in detail. For example, the reports for financial accounting are bank statements, check print templates and tax assessments.
