Within the project, an existing Web presence is revised for the customer. Along with requirements for design and usability, the focus is on implementing a separation of editorial and design-based tasks. An evaluation of different content management systems is performed, a design template is created and the feasibility of the implementation is displayed.
Supplement
When evaluating the content management system, the existing freely-available CMS Typo3, Wordpress, Joomla, and Concrete5 are assessed. Based on the use and scope of the project, a decision was made for implementation in Concrete5. When revising the design template that was provided as a graphic file by an external agency, the corresponding formatting specifications are implemented with PHP and CSS. Usability is improved by developing a flat site hierarchy that improves the implementation of navigation aids and other state-of-the-art functions. This improvement is provided by a functional prototype and agreed on with the customer. During the project, replacing of the architecture is also considered, as otherwise it will not be possible to implement several functional and technological requirements.
Subject description
It makes sense for an IT consultancy to keep its Web presence up to date. Usability, design and the latest technology make an important first impression with potential customers and applicants. During website design, close attention is paid to the customer’s corporate identity without redefining the Web presence. The result: a modernized and improved version of the original Web presence.
