Electronic data exchange in accordance with GPKE

Project duration: 3 years, 4 months

Brief description

In this project, the business processes implemented in order to map energy trading in the existing central application are to be analyzed and adjusted to comply with two laws: the Federal Network Agency's decisions regarding "The portrayal of business processes for initiating and processing network access when delivering electricity to customers" (GPKE) and "Business processes and data formats when switching providers in the context of supplying gas" (GeLi Gas). In addition to this, the associated communication path for electronic data exchange (sending and receiving) shall be designed and realized in the EDIFACT format.

Supplement

The customer's master data application is based on a three-layer, service-oriented architecture (.Net-based thin client, application server, MS SQL 2005 database server). A newly developed EDI archive is to be integrated into this system landscape in order to retrieve e-mails from a specified inbox and store these in a separate database together with metadata and attachments. The EDIFACT messages included in the attachments are converted to an XML format and forwarded to the master data application for further processing. When messages are sent, XML files generated by the master data application are imported from the BizTalk server, converted to the EDIFACT format and transferred to the EDI archive. The EDI archive uses this to generate e-mails, which are transferred via SMTP to an e-mail server. Communication between the BizTalk server and the EDI archive is via web methods. The development is carried out in C# based on the .NET 2.0 or .Net 3.5 framework.

Subject description

The Federal Network Agency has legally specified standardized business processes to guarantee uniform electronic data exchange in the EDIFACT format between market participants in the energy sector. These business processes are specified in the decisions: "The portrayal of business processes for initiating and processing network access when delivering electricity to customers" (GPKE) (BK6-06-009, July 11th 2006) and "Business processes and data formats when switching providers in the context of supplying gas" (GeLi Gas) (BK7-06-067, August 20th 2007). GPKE and GeLi Gas include specifications for implementing the processes (start of delivery, end of delivery, changing providers, replacement supply, meter reading/forwarding meter data, network access settlement, changing master data, business data query). This communication form is legally binding as of August 1st, 2007 (GPKE) and August 1st, 2008 (GeLi Gas).
