Brief description

Design and implementation of a software module for transferring information about business transactions that is stored on a mainframe to the customer-specific agency management and information system. This includes, for example, data about newly concluded contracts or the cancellation of contracts. The core of the software module is made up of corresponding database procedures.

Supplement

PowerDesigner (version 8) is used to model the requirements on the database side. MS Visio is used to model the use cases. The software module is implemented with C++ and C#. The data to be transferred is stored in a Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere 9 database. A web service carries out the necessary data download. This web service reads the data on the mainframe and forwards it to an SQL procedure for inclusion in the database. The web service is implemented in the J2EE environment and it uses SOAP as its protocol.

Subject description

Business transactions generally pass through several processing steps that are carried out by different department within the organization. For example, the agency or representation concludes the contract or receives an entitlement to a service, while the service itself is authorized by specialized departments within internal sales. If customers are to receive up-to-date information about the processing status of their case, the agency or representative needs to have immediate access to the relevant information. In order to guarantee a better level of customer service, it is important to transfer data from business transactions of every type, using suitable software, from the mainframe system to the agency management and information system, where the data can be presented.
