Instrument for measuring coagulation parameters
Brief description
Developing a device for analyzing coagulation parameters. The project includes both hardware and software components. At the same time, new application definitions and reagents are developed. Development is distributed across multiple locations in Switzerland, Germany and Spain. Software development is divided into two main components: A real-time system (Linux-based) is responsible for controlling the hardware and measurements. The results are forwarded to software based on .net, which is responsible for calculating the final results from the measured values, as well as all data management, validation of results, managing and monitoring the reliability of measurements (QC, calibration), providing the UI and communication with external systems.

An agile development model with several teams working in parallel at different sites was applied. The UI is based on Silverlight. Components to support download and installation of master data as well as a connection interface for host systems using a domain specific protocol (HL7) had to be implemented.
Subject description
The device offers a broad range of relevant tests, simple installation of master data (applications, reagent, calibration, QC parameters, etc.) via download option, and it enables on-board reconstitution of specific reagents. It will be available in two variants for medium and high throughputs. The host interface enables communication with other laboratory or hospital systems on the basis of HL7. For individual operation, the instrument also provides a fully functioning data management system for patient samples, calibrations, QC and measuring results, including reporting.
