In the course of a corporate-wide SAP introduction project in an international mail-order business, methodical support is provided for business process modeling. The focuses are on creating a modeling guideline and quality assurance for the models, and on providing support for operating the modeling software used.
Supplement
The business processes are modeled with BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) in the Agilian modeling tool. Individual group companies and organizational areas work in separate Agilian projects. Functional support is provided to the modelers in how to handle the tool and BPMN, in close cooperation with the customer’s technical support. Methodical specifications, such as modeling guidelines or FAQ, are created in coordination with the program management, continuously developed further and then made accessible to all modelers in the Intranet on SharePoint. An open door event and supplementary training courses on the subjects of Agilian and BPMN are then carried out. Report templates for quality assurance of the Agilian models are developed on the basis of the specifications. Agilian templates are created to ensure standardized documentation of the processes (e.g. in SAP Blueprints) and these templates are distributed to the projects.
Subject description
The shared basis for functional detailed modeling is provided by a central master process that displays all the group’s business processes together at a high level of abstraction. This master process is developed further and updated during the course of the project. This achieves a common understanding of the functional processes across group companies and supports a group-wide SAP introduction. A standardized method for modeling and documenting the functional processes is crucial here, particularly at the detailing levels under the master process.
