Migration and support for Cognos 8

Brief description
The reports in the area of financial accounting and controlling are changed over from Cognos 7.4 to Cognos 8, version 8.4. The data basis of the CODA standard software is used here. First, Cognos 8 BI is installed in a new environment in which all the people involved in the project can familiarize themselves with the new functions (in part under the supervision of a Cognos expert). Next, the existing reports and PowerCubes are analyzed and either restructured or migrated to Cognos 8. Once the changeover is complete, technical support and support for internal employees begin.

Cognos 7 Impromptu and Cognos 7 PowerPlay are client/server applications that are to be replaced by the new Cognos 8 BI product range. Cognos 8 is based on a web architecture. The CODA standard software provides a "framework" in which the relevant data is formatted for reporting. The new reports access these structures.
Subject description
Reporting plays an important role in this company. For example, Cognos reports are used to control stocks of inventory and generate form letters. The current PowerPlay cubes are used to calculate overall turnover and sales, to identify balance sheet figures and to examine them in detail. For example, the reports for financial accounting are bank statements, check print templates and tax assessments.
