Migration of a program for training the sales force
Project duration: 25 days
Brief description
In this project, a program developed by PTA for training the sales department (KNB 2836) is to be modernized. The previous Java-based application interface shall be replaced by a new frontend developed with Cappuccino (JavaScript framework). The design should reflect the look-and-feel of related software products and make it easier to operate (more intuitive). The project includes the creation of a prototype in the new target technology to support the decision making processes in favor of the customer’s technology.
Supplement
The new interface unites various modules that are separated in the old program. Now, by selecting user roles in the login screen, the relevant functions and views are presented from the overall application. The Cappuccino framework used here makes Apple-style GUI elements available and is the Java equivalent to Cocoa. That is why the MVC pattern is used for structuring. Programming is done in the object-oriented language Objective-J, which is a counterpart to Apple’s Objective-C. Prototypes of the application are running fully on the client, but the framework offers the possibility of requesting data, for example, by HTTP request. This solution is planned for the later implementation of the application.
Subject description
In the prototype, the user, in the role of a trainer, has the option of viewing the groups of participants in an overview and with detailed information. Important information on the group evaluations and on the achieved customer proximity are graphically represented here in the form of evaluation points. In the role of a course participant, products can be entered and viewed in an overview, and the input can be concluded. A clearly arranged selection menu makes it possible for the participants to find the right product category quickly.
