Within the supply chain process, when orders that are transferred to SAP from an external system are created, a delivery and shipping schedule has to be created. This is necessary because, later in the process flow, the shipping dates are used to derive provision dates and times for picking. One critical issue in the processing is the high number of order items that have to be processed in a relatively short time frame.
