Brief description

In this project, support and development work are provided for the analysis systems at a pharmaceutical company. The analysis systems are OLAP databases covering all company reporting for actual and planned data, down to the level of individual articles. The support involves safeguarding operation, implementing changes, and database migration. Development activities cover ETL processes and system status reports.

Supplement

The database software used by the customer is the SQL Server 2008 from Microsoft. The Business Intelligence Development Studio, based on Visual Studio 2008, is used as the development environment for the data processes and the OLAP databases. Support tasks that can be performed directly on the database (such as configuration, data checks and data corrections) are carried out using the SQL Server Management Studio. The processes for loading the fact and dimension data are implemented using Integration Services. The data processes that are to be implemented are integrated into an established centralized sequence control system. The sequence logic needed to do this also has to be created and maintained. The OLAP databases are made available to users by means of Analysis Services. MS Reports is used in this context with SharePoint for the system status reports. HPSM from HP is used as the ticket system and SAP SSM is used for documentation.

Subject description

The key performance indicators database shows the company's actual and planned sales around the world at the level of individual articles, in terms of value and quantity. Target figures can be used together with up-to-date actual figures on a monthly basis to create analyses. The key performance indicators include values for the working capital, sales figures and manufacturing costs, value management, and employee figures and costs. The itemized items are available in both consolidated and unconsolidated form, which enables the value of the entire manufacturing process to be checked. In addition, data is provided for a detailed deviation analysis. The database enables planners and controllers to evaluate the KPIs in more than 12 dimensions. These dimensions are integrated into the management reporting concept (existing analysis database at a rougher level).
