In this project, an application is created in order to analyze the damage behavior and wear behavior of high-quality tires of straddle carriers that are used at container terminals operated by the customer. Operative maintenance data are prepared and analyzed for detectable connections regarding wear behavior and causes of damage. They flow in aggregated form into the group controlling and procurement control of tires.
Supplement
The “Tire Controlling” MS Access application is created according to the standard PTA framework and is accordingly divided into two components as a client-server application. One access file contains the source code and acts a GUI for the users, while another Access file contains the tables and data. The latter is stored centrally on a server in the customer’s network in order to enable decentralized access using the Access application. The externally maintained transaction data are imported by accessing an Access database that is located in the network directory. This Access database is maintained using an existing Access application.
Subject description
The customer uses straddle carriers to transport containers at its container terminals. Because the service life of the tires depends on the use and damage, the use and damage should be monitored. The recorded data are used to process complaints and to procure tires. The evaluation of the tire data should be supported by a new application. Data required for this purpose are imported from an existing database. The controlling application has a purely informational function and contains screens for displaying the calculated costs for damage and/or profile wear in total per month or per operating hour. Evaluations can be created as monthly, quarterly, and yearly statements. The costs are calculated according to different calculation schemes specified by the customer. The evaluation results can be exported as Excel reports and manually post-processed if necessary using standard Excel functions.
