In the fall of 2003, PTA GmbH and BASF IT Services completed the project to re-engineer the wastewater register. The main objective of the re-engineering project was to enable continuous data collection in the wastewater register so that the data from the companies can be kept up to date at all times.

- Flexibility with regard to future functional requirements thanks to modular design
- Integration of the recorded mitigation measures and water law notifications into the wastewater register
- Handling of product shutdowns, relocations and results of operational measurement
- Traceability when relocating a product
- Conversion of the version cadastre to a continuous cadastre with freely selectable evaluation periods (annual cadastre) and consolidation of several annual cadastres into one authority cadastre
- Simple operation for queries and searches
- History management
The tasks of the PTA
The requirement for PTA GmbH was to implement the wastewater register under the coordination of BASF IT Services based on a predefined specification. The two companies worked closely together to design, implement and introduce the application system. In addition, PTA created the system documentation for the subsequent operation of the system by BASF IT Services. Among other things, the following tasks were to be carried out by PTA:
IT design for numerous complex conceptual specifications, for example for
- the version register management
- the history management
- the handling of product shutdowns / relocations and the results of operational measurements
- the integration of mitigation measures and water law notifications
- the creation of system documentation
