Against the backdrop of a DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory operation, the PTA consultants carried out a process analysis and modeling that revealed the complexity and diversity of the processes to be supported at LLBB. This not only made it possible to draw up a comprehensive specification sheet, but also to identify optimization potential relating to organizational and administrative processes. The processes depicted with the help of the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) showed potential for improvement even before the LIMS was introduced. This meant that optimizations could be implemented even before the LIMS was implemented.
The creation of the specifications by the PTA process consultants was a significant step forward. Along with the detailed process analysis, the project participants laid a solid foundation for the tender for the new laboratory information and management system.
At the LLBB, a uniform view of how processes should run optimally in the future and which requirements an implementation partner must fulfill so that these can be seamlessly mapped in the new LIMS in the future was established across all locations.
